Coach Griffin’s ideal Football Program
MISSION STATEMENT
A comprehensive football program, which emphasizes the development of lifelong values and skills through hard work, sportsmanship, ethical conduct, and fair play. The foundation of which is based upon open communication and mutual respect among coaches, athletes, parents and officials. Serving as positive, powerful, productive force for the team, school, community, and most importantly the student-athlete.
OBJECTIVES
To provide an attractive program for the student-athlete:
- make player safety and welfare our HIGHEST priority
- provide the student-athlete with an enjoyable and rewarding experience
To teach the game of football:
- specific football skills and strategies
- sportsmanship, ethical conduct and fair play
To be an integral part of the secondary school curriculum:
- to stress the importance of self-discipline in both the classroom and on the field
- dignity, worth and self-esteem are achieved through hard work
- morale, satisfaction, and performance are enhanced when athletes work together
To make the football program a source of both school and community pride:
- help each athlete to interact positively with the faculty, community and fellow students
- make the team a positive influence on all who come in contact with it
PHILOSOPHY
Control field position:
- GREAT DEFENSE- Stop the run and pressure the quarterback
- SOUND SPECIAL TEAMS- Create positive “Sudden Changes”
- ERROR FREE OFFENSE- Exploit the defense and eliminate set backs
GOALS
Play Hard: Ability- due to conditioning
Play smart: Desire- due to motivation
Be a Champion: Character- due to commitment
